Taking the shiny off our new beer club

Wednesday, May 6th, 2009

Welcome to the RWC beer club. First I’d like to thank our sponsor Peter, the owner of Angelica’s Bistro and suggest you all head down for happy hour! He now has Kwak on tap and Chimay in the works.

Kwak served in the traditional 1/4 yard glassThe best way to enjoy Kwak is in the 1/4 yard glass, complete with a wooden stand. The long neck and round base makes a nice rich, frothy head. You can recognize a glass of Kwak beer from across a crowded bistro. This glass isn’t for the timid though, beyond all the delicious extra Belgian beer you get “the bubble” which poses a special conundrum for consumption. Rotation is the key.

Once you get over the novelty of the glass, Kwak is a very fine Belgian beer. The color is a deep amber, with a creamy colored head. Kwak has a mellow, fruity and malty aroma with very little hops smell. There are some hints of fruit in the taste and aroma such as creamy banana and licorice.

This is all brand new so please bear with us as we get up and rolling.  Check back often for the latest news.

The first meeting is planned for 6:30pm, May 13th at Angelica’s Bistro (directions).
